Job Description

About Us

The Flexible Space Association (FlexSA) is the trade association for the flexible workspace industry across the UK.  We represent, support and promote the providers of serviced and managed offices, co-working space, workshop units and virtual office services, as well as companies which provide goods and services to the industry.

The industry is a growing one, with many new entrants.  We re-branded earlier this year, and are working to grow our membership.

The Role

The Communications and Events Officer position is a new role, so there will be scope for the postholder to shape it.  We are looking for someone with experience and enthusiasm, who will be able to hit-the-ground-running.

The postholder will manage and work on all areas of events, working with colleagues on delivering an annual conference in May and an awards dinner in November, and organising and running smaller events for our members throughout the year.  These will include roundtable meetings around the UK, and webinars delivering information and training.

The communications element of the role will include managing FlexSA’s social media channels and contributing content to regular newsletters and the website.  The postholder will also seek opportunities to use communications channels to reach new audiences within the industry, to support the growth of our membership.  Digital design skills would be advantageous, but are not essential for the role.

As a small organisation, there will also be a requirement to pitch into help with other areas of work, and cover in the absence of colleagues.  This makes for a more varied role, which will develop your skills across a variety of activities.

The post calls for a dynamic, proactive and ambitious individual, with good verbal and written communication skills.  Computer literacy is essential, alongside good attention to detail.

Working Hours

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30.  We are open to discussions on flexible working arrangements.  There will be a need for some travel, and to occasionally attend events outside of normal working hours.

Application Information

To apply for this position, please submit your CV and a letter of application setting out your relevant experience and how you meet the requirements of the role to the Executive Director of the Flexible Space Association, Jane Sartin, at

Closing date for applications: Friday 25 October 2019.

Interviews will take place on Friday 1 November in Hatfield.
