Chris Pieroni becomes BCA Chair

Dr Christopher Pieroni, operations director of Workspace Group, takes over from Simon Rusk as chairman of the Business Centre Association. The trade association represents the flexible space sector including business centres, studios, coworking, virtual office and accommodation address providers, light industrial and workspace environments. It has 300 business centre owner members who run 1,200 UK workspaces.

The UK’s serviced flexible workspace sector is a £1.2bn industry – accounting for almost a third of the £3.8bn serviced office market worldwide.

Jennifer Brooke, BCA chief executive, said: “We are delighted that Chris is taking over at such an exciting time for our industry. We have a critical role ahead to support the providers of space for SMEs, lobbying on their behalf on the important issues, such as empty rates and promoting our code of conduct and consumer charter specifying standards of service.”

Pieroni added:“The BCA plays an important role in supporting a critical part of the UK economy. The SME businesses that it represents need flexibility in everything from leases to technological support and they need strong representation. I look forward to putting my practical experience to work for the benefit of these BCA members.”

Pieroni is responsible for the asset management of Workspace’s portfolio of around 100 buildings across London. Prior to joining Workspace in 2007, he worked at KPMG specialising in real estate and infrastructure finance. He began his professional career teaching economics at Cambridge University.
