Two of our members, Instant and Business Environment, have featured prominently in the most recent List of ‘Best Small Companies To Work For’ compiled by The Sunday Times.
Instant has jumped from 96th place in 2010 to 23rd today and was also awarded three-star status, the highest possible rating based on feedback from employees, as was Business Environment, which came 38th in the List. Both companies have been listed consecutively in the last four years.
The List is compiled using online surveys from all employees in the relevant companies, relating to staff turnover, benefits, flexibility of workplace practices and an in-depth look at the values and ethics of a business. The awards demonstrate excellence across a number of workplace ‘factors’, including leadership, pay and benefits and treatment of staff. More than 37,500 employees from all areas of business were surveyed nationally.
Instant, a worldwide broker of serviced office space, was also one of three companies nominated for the special award for ‘Best for Innovation in Engagement Practice’ for the ‘Lime Green Standard’ – a set of guidelines for competencies and behaviours to drive the business forward, that was designed using input from employees at all levels.
Rob Hamilton, chief executive, said “We are all so proud to have been recognised in this way once again. Our focus on making Instant a motivating, inspiring and enjoyable place to work pays dividends in business success, and we firmly believe that this is reflected in the service we offer to our clients.”
Business Environment, a major provider of serviced office space across southern England, also finished eighth in the country for its commitment to employee wellbeing and its focus on providing employees with a positive work-life balance. The company is currently the holder of the BCA’s ‘Business Centre of the Year’ title.
David Saul, managing director, said: “With such a strong line-up of UK businesses entering the awards, we were delighted to be ranked so highly. It is encouraging to know that employees really value the staff training and development we offer and the award is testament to our commitment to them in building a business culture that they are proud to be part of.”
Jennifer Brooke, executive director of the BCA, commented: “I would like to offer my heartiest congratulations to these two members, not just for this latest accolade but for the consistency of their inclusion in The Sunday Times List. This is not only a significant achievement by Instant and Business Environment but also reflects positively on our industry as a whole.”
