Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway railway stations provide regular trains to Cardiff, Birmingham and London. The city is also served by Bristol International Airport which boasts flight destinations across Europe.

Built on the River Avon and with a short coastline on the Severn Estuary the city has always been linked to maritime activities. In more recent times the city has seen an expansion in the creative media, electronics and aerospace sectors.
