Reflecting on the Flexible Space Association Conference & Exhibition

The Flexible Space Association enjoyed the opportunity to bring together people working in or alongside the flexible workspace industry yesterday for our Annual Conference and Exhibition.  You can view a selection of photos from the day here.

The event covered a diverse range of topics, with speakers and panellists from a host of flexible workspace operators and providers of services to the sector.  We also welcomed a number of guest speakers.

Our Conference Co-Hosts were drawn from our largest member company, with Michael Millard of IWG, who was joined by Suzanne Murdock from one of our smaller members, The Hub Newry.  This thread ran through the day, with a session focused on the opportunities and risks in scaling larger businesses, and one looking at the competitive advantages for smaller workspace operators.

A session looking at how ESG activities are being implemented by workspaces comprised panellists from DeskLodge, Workspace, Clockwise and Hope Park Workspaces.  The businesses vary significantly in size, but the discussion demonstrated they have much more in common as workspace operators than many might imagine.

We welcomed a guest speaker, with BBC Business Reporter Dougal Shaw sharing his perspectives as someone who has regularly reported on the changing face of workspace.  We also heard from speakers from the City of London Police, HMRC and Trading Standards on how the industry can support the fight against fraud and scams, and understand changes to compliance requirements.

The big part technology plays in the industry was recognised in the programme, with Dan Drogman of Smart Spaces looking at what the AI revolution means for flex.  We also heard a panel discussing (and having a mildly heated debate!) how technology can differentiate workspaces and streamline business activities.

The conference programme ended with a presentation focused on market data by James Rankin and John Williams of The Instant Group – a key topic of interest for any industry gathering!

A final thank you to our sponsors, whose support made the event possible to stage:
