FlexSA Award Winners Announced

Members of the Flexible Space Association came together last night, Thursday 18th November, in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London for the presentation of the FlexSA Awards, and to celebrate the flexible workspace industry as we near the end of the year.

Our new-look 2021 Awards sought to recognise this very different year, and the judging panel had the extremely difficult task of deciding the finalists and winners. Freya Cross, the Flexible Space Association Chairman and who chaired judging panel said:  “It was a privilege to be able to read the many entries setting out the work and achievements in our industry over the past year.”

Below are the winners as announced last night, and next week we will be sharing details and celebrating each of our finalists.

Workspace Design

Bruntwood Works, Bloc, Manchester

Bruntwood Works applied the latest thinking around wellness, productivity and work-life balance to transform a once corporate office building into a vibrant workplace oasis.  They have developed six key pillars for the design of workspaces, covering wellbeing, amenity, biophilia, technology, art and sustainability.

Technology Innovation

RA Information Systems

For their development of new touch-free access features to their Clarity Visitor sign-in solution to assist with security and minimise contact at check-in.  Their system assists workspace operators and their customers by giving them a centralised and standardised visitor procedure. Clients can use this feature to not only book visits at any time that suits them, but also to find information associated with past visits. The visitor information can also be used to provide real time safety lists in case of emergency. RA Information Systems have worked hard to develop enhancements to their services for the managed and flexible office sector, to provide an easy-to-use solution, assist with track and trace and offer touch-free options to assist in managing the implications created by the current pandemic.

Service Innovation

Huckletree

For their focus on developing optimism, business growth and human interaction for their clients. This included launching new educational programmes, for example a complimentary 6-week career upskilling programme for junior employees of members’ businesses.  They have also implemented initiatives supporting founders from under-represented backgrounds, and increased their commitment to being a more sustainable business.

Best Referral to Flexible Workspace

The Instant Group

The Instant Group’s entry focused on work by Henry Stainton, a Client Solutions Senior Director at Instant, for client BP.  Henry worked with the senior team at The Office Group to develop BP’s vision for an innovation hub to bring their teams together.

Excellence in Customer Service

Serviced Office Company, Millharbour Court & Davenport House

These two centres in Canary Wharf are run by the same team, and their focus is on creating an environment clients view as home.  They work hard to build relationships, and this is reflected in the praise heaped on them in testimonials from clients, for the standards of service and support, and their friendliness and help during the pandemic.

UBC Fleet

The community spirit created by Kevin and Dani was commended.  They have run a variety of events for customers, focussing on smaller but more frequent activities to boost morale.  They organised an ice cream van and a mobile coffee franchise to visit.  12 new clients with a total of 95 staff have been welcomed at the centre so far in 2021

Wizu Workspace, The Leeming Building

The Wizu team at the Leeming Building prioritise the highest standards of customer service.  The centre currently has 75 Google reviews, with every single one scoring a perfect 5 out of 5.  Clients praise the ‘professional and friendly staff’ who go out of their way to help, the social events and the services offered.

UBC Henley in Arden

Christine and Sophia pride themselves on going above and beyond clients’ expectations.  They host monthly Henley Hub Networking events, and participate in fundraising activities.  They celebrate clients’ special days and successes, and were praised by them for the welcoming environment and support.

We also recognised the contribution of Jean Eustace, Operations Director at Breezblok, to the flexible workspace industry with our Industry Achievement Award, which we’ll be going into further detail on next week.

Thank you to our event sponsors for their support:

Glide, who deliver affordable broadband technology to offices;

Express Staffing, who offer recruitment services specifically for flexible workspaces;

Directive, providers of office furniture.

We are also grateful to BE Offices, Desklodge, Bruntwood Works and Glide for providing us with venues for our events.
