Flexible Space Association Welcomes Labour Party’s Business Rates Announcement

The Flexible Space Association welcomes today’s announcement by the Labour Party that they are committed to abolishing business rates in their current form, in favour of a fairer system of business taxation.

We particularly welcome the commitment to increasing the frequency of revaluations, which would result in the rates system adjusting to local market conditions more quickly.

The rigidity of the current business rates system creates a significant burden for the flexible workspace industry.  It has been particularly challenging during the course of the pandemic, when the sector has received no relief.

The Association will seek an opportunity to discuss the Labour Party’s plans with the Shadow Chancellor, Rachel Reeves MP, and brief her on what measures would ensure a thriving flexible workspace sector which supports the UK economy by providing a home and services to businesses of all sizes.
