The phrase 'going the extra mile' is regularly attributed to service organisations, including those within the flexible workspace sector. However for one person in particular, the phrase is about to take on a whole new meaning.
Gareth Evans, Managing Director of Bizspace and BCA Treasurer, is taking part in the Mitie London Revolution next month to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.
The UK's biggest 2-day sportive features a 185-mile cycling route around London, with over 2,000 cyclists expected to take to the tarmac on 17th and 18th May 2014.
The route bypasses a wealth of iconic sights and Olympic landmarks along the way. However, whether or not Gareth and his fellow cyclists have the energy to enjoy the scenery remains to be seen...
"I was told that riding 185 miles around the counties surrounding London would be a lovely weekend outing," Gareth said. "Having been out on the bike a few times, it’s rather bigger than I thought. This will be a big challenge - it won't be pretty!"
Gareth chose the Alzheimer's Society as a "great cause that is close to my heart". He believes the society does not receive a sensible level of research funding, especially given its prevalence. There is no cure for Alzheimer's disease, and it is the most common cause of dementia, affecting almost half a million people in the UK.
"If you could support this fantastic and underfunded cause, anything you can give would be fantastic and I would be very grateful," he added.
