BCA Learning Academy: Opportunity to Secure Business Growth Funding

High-growth ambitious workspace businesses, take note: The BCA's next Learning Academy, a series of masterclasses designed to develop essential business skills, takes place in February and March 2014.

The BCA is committed to the continued professional development of workspace operators and suppliers and the Academy, fronted by business expert and Academy Director Mike Ashton, has become a crucial factor in the progress and growth of businesses within the sector, along with their clients.

In 2014 there are four Learning Academy masterclasses available:

- Leadership
- Customer Service
- Time Management
- Business Negotiation & Skills

The masterclasses are designed for SMEs with a strong focus on flexibility, as well as clients working in flexible space environments. Delegates can attend one or all of the courses and based on previous feedback, which consistently rates the Academy as a critical part of team and company development, businesses from all elements of the sector are encouraged to participate and benefit.

Funding opportunity

The Academy represents extremely high value and BCA Members benefit from preferred rates. As an additional incentive, there is now an exciting opportunity for attendees to gain financial support as part of a wider business growth strategy.

GrowthAccelerator, a government-backed business support scheme, is offering financial assistance to ambitious businesses who are looking to foster a leadership team to drive future growth.

The support available forms part of a "match funding" opportunity of up to £2,000 per senior manager, which can be used for leadership and management training upon joining the GrowthAccelerator service. For instance, for every £1 that a business contributes on training a senior manager, GrowthAccelerator will match it up to £2,000.

The service specialises in identifying key barriers to business progression, and works with its clients to formulate and develop a business growth plan. The match-funding service for bespoke management training forms part of the company's overall development strategy.

Several BCA members have already taken advantage of GrowthAccelerator's service, including Portal Business Centres.

Managing Director Sallie Maskrey explained that she intends to utilise available funding to develop their leadership team, partly through attendance of the Learning Academy, and to advance Portal's overall business growth strategy.

Over 10,000 businesses have been supported by the scheme to date, and the flexible workspace industry has a golden opportunity to gain from this government-backed service to realise both short and long-term ambitions.
