BCA Industry Awards: Celebrating 2012 in Style

It was a night of celebration on Friday 30th November at the 12th Annual BCA Awards Dinner. Mayfair came alive as delegates, partners and friends of the flexible office space industry came together at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel to toast another successful year, catch up with old friends, meet new faces and generally have a great time.

And if the dancefloor was anything to go by, a great time was certainly had by all!

No sooner had the lectern been packed away, the toasts completed and the glasses clinked, the celebrations began. From the moment the Queen cabaret kicked off the proceedings, to the arrival of Angelo Starr and The Team - who proclaimed "we came here to party!" - the dancefloor was hotly contested. And in an industry that's renowned for filling space, it was shoulder to shoulder.

There was certainly good reason for celebration. As noted by BCA Executive Director Jennifer Brooke during her opening speech, an incredible 1,000 nominations were received across five award categories - with each nominated business centre, workspace, supplier, broker and individual a truly exceptional representative for the industry. Every nomination came direct from a client, and the level of nominations received is testament to the unparalleled standards of service across the industry - and it's these characteristically high standards that the event is designed to celebrate.

The awards were of course the talking point of the evening, and the results no doubt contributed to some of the weird, wonderful and downright wacky shapes that later formed on the dancefloor.

Of course there was another reason to celebrate on Friday - and that's because the industry can be proud of the role it has played this year. The flexible space industry continues to grow and diversify with each passing year and as technology evolves, business centres continue to adapt and embrace the demands of today's mobile workforce.

Simon Rusk, BCA Chair and Finance Director of Business Environment Group said:

“UK flexible space providers are at the forefront of a global revolution in working practices. With 15% of the British workforce now self-employed and corporate employees increasingly working remotely, growing numbers of solo workers, entrepreneurs and start ups are seeking professional collabora
