BCA Annual Awards Gala Dinner 2018

On Friday 30th November, the great and the good from the world of flexible workspace descended on the Sheraton Grand Hotel, on Piccadilly to attend the 18th BCA Annual Awards Gala Dinner to celebrate the achievements of individuals, operators and partners within the sector.

Resplendent in Black Tie and formal wear, attendees paid tribute to outgoing BCA Executive Director, Jennifer Brooke, who is stepping down from the helm of the organisation after 20 years of service.

A recorded video from a number of the sector’s finest minds was also played to the assembled crowd, after a valedictory speech from Jennifer in which she praised the resilience, innovation and growth of the sector during her time leading the BCA.

This year’s hotly contested awards went to a selection of sector superstars. First up, the Broker Representative of the Year was awarded to Amy Stern from FlexiOffices, who accepted her award with gusto, to the cheers of her enthusiastic colleagues. The award came as recognition for an exceptional year of achievement for Amy, whose popularity among colleagues was confirmed by the decibel reading upon the announcement.

The second award of the night went to Opstech Services Limited, who won the Partner of the Year award. The organisation, who won the award for the first time, provide strategic advice and support to business owners and operators within the Flexible Workspace sector, and have helped a number of new entrants into a growing marketplace.

The Independent Flexible Workspace of the Year award was won by Stonebridge Offices, Leeds. The space, which has become popular with firms operating in the legal sector, boasts the largest garden area within Leeds City Centre and excellent physical and digital connectivity.

The final award of the night went to UBC, Southampton who scooped the Group Flexible Workspace of the Year. Located in the Ocean Village Marina, the space has been recognised for its excellent facilities and staff, who have cultivated meaningful working relationships with their clients in recent years.

Once the awards had been distributed, thoughts turned to the post-dinner frivolity and attendees were seen dusting off their dancing shoes in anticipation of the night of entertainment ahead. Angelo Starr and the Team once again graced the BCA Gala Awards Dinner stage and had the crowd on their feet within minutes.

The dancing continued into the early hours of the morning as the sector celebrated another successful year of growth and the event did justice to the significance of the occasion, given it was Jennifer Brooke’s final Gala Awards Dinner as BCA Executive Director.
